EMEL by Melinda Looi ‘My Chantilly’ raya 2018 collection

The ‘My Chantilly’theme is inspired by the cheerful Chantilly lace that represents traditional Malay culture in a more contemporary way. Known for her exclusive designs, Melinda Looi was experimental this season with lace-knit fabrics, that give an illusion of fine and exclusive lace texture. This special collection provides a wide range of mix and matchoptions so not one ensemble is identical.

EMEL, the homegrown Malaysian designer label, launched yet another charity-supporting baju raya collection. The vibrant lace-inspired collection, entitled My Chanilly, features the traditional Malay outfit in a colourful range of lacy prints and colour-block designs, offering exciting choices for every fashionista this coming Raya 2018. We love how thelace-motif fabrics gave the illusion of an exclusive and delicate lace textile. What’s more, the versatility of the collection makes the pieces easy to mix and match, allowing the modern woman to pair stylish tops with EMEL’s signature and flattering bias-cut skirts.

Melinda Looi has been collecting funds for various charities since her rise in the fashion industry.  She has a deep interest in collecting funds for children’s education and starvation, team EMEL has targeted to raise funds and food aid worth at least RM60,000 to support two orphanages in Kedah throughout 2019.

A total of 62 children from the orphanages – Pertubuhan Asuhan & Didikan Anak Yatim Miskin in Sg. Petani and Rumah Anak Yatim Nur Hidayah in Baling will receive education funds and food aid managed by CHARITY RIGHT, a charity organization specialising in giving food aid to schools, refugee centres and orphanages.
