Style Girl Crush: Fashion Icon - Alexa Chung

One of the most recognisable names in fashion and beauty, Alexa Chung's career spans modeling, presenting, writing and now, designing for her ALEXACHUNG label. She's also the face of L'OrĂ©al Professionnel INOA hair colour. When Alexa Chung first started being photographed in 2006, she almost instantly changed the way we dressed. Over a decade (and many pea jackets, navy sweaters, thigh-skimming dresses, ballet flats and denim cutoffs) later, she is still one of the most copied style icons on the planet. There's a reason she's won the British Fashion Awards Style Icon Award three times (and counting).

I adores Alexa Chung's looks and her sense of styles. She's been my inspiration and fashion icon because her style is always chic and up to date. Since arriving on the fashion scene as a model in the early aughts, Alexa has become as synonymous with style as the labels she’s often spotted wearing. The British street-style darling -- who’s cut her teeth in the fashion and entertainment industries as a writer and TV host -- has added designer to her resume in recent years, lending her signature mod-meets-modern aesthetic to various brands.

Background

Alexa Chung was born on 5 November 1983 in Privett, Hampshire, England to Gillian and Phillip Chung. She is of English and Chinese descent, her father is of three quarters Chinese ancestry, while her mother is of English descent. Alexa attended secondary school at the local Perins School and spent sixth form at Peter Symonds College, Winchester. She was accepted at King's College London to read English, but was scouted by a modelling agency before attending.

Alexa has been a muse to many fashion designers because of her distinctive personal style. In 2009 the designer handbag company Mulberry created a much sought-after bag named after and inspired by her called the "Alexa". With one of the world's most enviable wardrobes and a Mulberry bag named in her honor, Alexa has won British Style Icon three year's running at the British Fashion Awards in 2011, 2012 and 2013. She's wowed us with some beautifully pulled-together looks. A laid-back, London street chic vibe infuses her entire wardrobe. With a unique ability to stay ahead of trends, she adds her own effortlessly chic twist to any outfit. Put simply, whatever she wears, we want.

Her two-season collaboration with AG Jeans delivered high-rise silhouettes and relaxed shirting, along with ’60s-esque cropped and flared jeans. Alexa and AG helped kick-start the trend with button-up styles that have become a cool-girl staple as of late.

Not surprisingly, Alexa’s style acumen has led to another role in the fashion spotlight -- that of AG’s newest face, currently fronting the fall campaign. Replete with dark denim, folk elements by way of lace and floral accents, and utilitarian-like contrast stitching, the label’s fall collection blends vintage influences with contemporary refinement.

Alexa has managed to turn her innate style into a business, of course, with sellout clothing collections for AG Jeans and Marks & Spencer, and in May 2017 she launched her very own label called AlexaChung.

ALEXACHUNG is the eponymous fashion brand by Alexa. You can shop for ready-to-wear denim, shoes, dresses, t-shirts and more. All the pieces are exactly what we imagined she'd wear herself, from pinafore denim dresses to pretty collared shirts—meaning we've never had such a clear-cut chance of paying homage to the style setter.

For styling inspiration, I’ve rounded up some (15 numbers) of Alexa’s best looks ever -- from skinny jeans and suede jackets to designer gowns and jumpsuits--paired with pieces to help you copy her style. Here's some of her looks for inspirations. Winks! Winks!

There's no doubt that Alexa Chung is the ultimate fashion It girl. Not only is she a modern day style icon with her effortlessly cool outfits, she has also collaborated with the world's most high-profile designers creating dazzling capsule collections.
